Know business better. Do better business.

The Model

Modern organisations are complex systems, yet most professionals are trained inside functions, not across the enterprise.

The Standard Model for Business was developed to close that gap, providing a clear architecture for how companies are built, scaled and governed.

The author

Edward Rowe

Edward Rowe is a governance, risk and assurance executive with more than two decades of experience advising boards and senior leadership teams across complex international organisations.

Throughout his career, he observed that while professionals often master their function, few are taught to understand how the enterprise fits together.

The Standard Model for Business was developed to close that gap, providing a clear framework for how companies are built, scaled and governed.

His work focuses on helping leaders build structural clarity, executive capability and long-term institutional strength.

Edward’s story

Edward Rowe is a governance, assurance and risk executive with more than twenty years of experience advising boards, investment leaders and executive teams across Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the United States. A Fellow Chartered Accountant (ICAEW), his career spans financial services, global manufacturing, sovereign wealth and private equity, giving him a broad perspective on how organisations are built, scaled and governed.

Ed began his career at Grant Thornton before joining KPMG’s Audit Committee Institute, where he advised non-executive directors on governance, risk oversight and corporate accountability. He later moved into industry, building internal audit functions and leading assurance across multinational organisations.

In 2010, he relocated to Abu Dhabi and has since spent more than fifteen years working within one of the world’s leading sovereign investment platforms. His work has taken him inside semiconductor fabrication plants, renewable energy projects, technology companies and global investment portfolios, providing a rare view of how strategy, risk, culture and execution operate in practice.

Today, Ed leads internal audit and risk management within a sovereign private equity environment overseeing hundreds of billions of dollars in assets.

The Standard Model for Business emerged from a simple observation across his career: talented professionals are rarely taught how businesses fit together as systems. The model was created to provide that clarity
